Online Gaming

I have a Linksys WAG325N wich my xbox connects to by ethernet cable. My PC and Ipone are connected to the linksys wirelessly. However i suffer from serious lag on Xbox live especially COD4 which is really annoying. Nowadays i hardly ever get full green bars...its either three green bars or yellow. Before i used to get full green on a regular. From my PC i get around 40-50ms ping. Im not sure whether to phone up O2 to lower my ping or to change some settings no the modem. Anyone else resolved their lag on COD4??

Re: Online Gaming

It may be that some bios versions (and this may even mean later versions) of the router are not supported by the xbox360 system.

Persaonlly, I have owned a few routers in my time. I had the Linksys WRG router (similar to your's). The linksys routers are not that good.

Have you made you have port forwarding. I know that NAT does not effect your speed, but affects the no of connections you can have (less connections during match making - but to this point it can limit you connects and prodomitatly, my expierence you tend to get alot of internation connection rather than local).

Do this, when you have got everything on and running and have the xbox set up. Take the power cable out and plug it back in and let me know if that helps.

Like one of the presvious posts - -upgrade the firmware. I would go for this. But I know it can be pain doing it as everytime I done it I kept getting a fail message,

Re: Online Gaming

How about turning on UPnP on the router? This should make all the port forwardings necessary. Try switching all PCs off when testing the Xbox on COD4... if the ping goes up, it could be due to excessive use on the PCs (P2P/usenet etc). Alternatively, it could be the route through to he XBox servers that your connection is taking, and you can't always resolve that... as its dependent on your ISPs peering arrangements.
