And might be that price for the first 3 month, then double for the remaining 9 month?

Re: 50 meg from BT under £20 per month
This again maybe the catch, i just ran the checker on BT site to see if Swansea main exchange can get 20mb and bare in mind im LESS than 1/2 mile from the exchange.
'Great news, our faster broadband service offering up to 20Mb is available in your area! Based on your postcode we can confirm your area supports the UK's most complete broadband package, BT Total Broadband. We estimate your maximum connection speed to be 9.0Mbps (Megabits per second).'

Re: 50 meg from BT under £20 per month
How are BT going to provide 50 meg. There present system is ADSL, There upgraded system will be ADSL2+, So i ask again how are they going to provide 50 meg to existing customers except in the test areas for Fibre to the cab ????

Re: 50 meg from BT under £20 per month
Hmm just checked my area:
Broadband checker results
For Postcode SN5 7DR on Exchange TOOTHILL
We've just tested your line and can confirm your line supports the UK's most complete broadband package, BT Total Broadband. We estimate your maximum connection speed to be up to 5.5 Mbps (Megabits per second).
The actual speed you get could be lower and is dependent on several factors such as whether you have any internal home wiring, our network management policy and the number of people using the Internet at the same time. Speeds are generally lower in the evening at peak times. You can find more information on all of these on bt.com/help.

Re: 50 meg from BT under £20 per month
This is probably the FTTC that they are trying to roll out, no way will it be less than 20 per month full stop though. They will probably do the X months half price as stated and it will be up to, capped usage etc.

Re: 50 meg from BT under £20 per month
I think your right but I am still wondering where the trials have gone that BE was doing using bonded telco lines meaning max speed of 48Mb down and 5Mb up.

Re: 50 meg from BT under £20 per month
BT are restricting FTTC to 40/5, I think you may have misread the 50 as it will likely actually be a 20.

so in future could bt ease the restrictions and give customer higher speeds, if so what is the max speed you can expect.

Re: 50 meg from BT under £20 per month
The area is Whitchurch in Cardiff. Its on local bill boards & was in the Cardiff free newspaper last week (double page ad) they are trialing the service to new( 18 month contract) & existing customers. Need BT hub & what goes with that?! . As I dont have a BT line its not something I will go for yet,& no its a big 50 mega broadband fibre optic.
If I see it again will try to scan the ad
OK found on web I guess this is what its about. Sorry if this is not the way to"do" this
