Tiscali going down?

Seems the end could be near for Tiscali..

Their auditors, Ernst and Young are refusing to sign off on their accounts citing "fundamental uncertainties" about the future of the company.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/04/16/tiscali_audit/

It's a sad end for the company who bought out such pioneers as HomeChoice (who were the first ADSL based TV provider) and Pipex (who were one of the first ISPs).

Re: Tiscali going down?

By all accounts they have re-opened talks with Sky..... makes you wonder why Sky valued them so much lower than Tiscali wanted last time

Having seen and worked on there network when they rolled out there llu i can see why. They crammed as many users as they could on to one dislam per exchange which had a 100 meg feed to it. Then they traffic shaped it to hell.

Reminds you of anyone

Re: Tiscali going down?

Just like Virgin does then, really? (and probably every other ISP under the sun)

Not saying its a good thing, but it is reality.

I think Sirius made that point when he said "reminds you of anyone?"

Mmm.

Can I just work with that a moment.

Having seen and worked on the network when they were rolling out 20Mbit I can see why. They had crammed as many users as they could on to one or two downstreams per multiple-thousand-homes-passed node which had 38 or 76Mbit of bandwidth. Then they STM'd it to hell.

Re: Tiscali going down?

i was thinking of migrating my adsl connection over to them from titanadsl but i then saw titan's new 24meg service and i sync at 22,469 so i got away from tiscali's sinking ship.
