Call 0800 100444 and quote 'save on connection'. Lines open Mon-Fri 8am-9pm, Sat 8am-8pm and Sun 9am-6pm.

Might be useful for anyone who's put off leaving Virgin to go to Be* because of the installation charge.

Re: Free BT Line Connection save £122.50
I see on BT's pages here - it's only if you already have a BT line provided to the property:
Quote:
Most of our new customers find they don't need to pay a connection charge.
If your home has had telephone service from BT in the recent past, and the wiring and socket is undamaged and the line still has dialling tone, it's likely you won't need to pay a connection charge. You'll just have to pay your line rental , cost of calls, and for any additional services you want.
But where there's no suitable BT line available in your property, there's no dialling tone on the line, or if you have been disconnected for non-payment, there will be a standard connection charge to pay of £122.50 (incl. VAT, subject to survey).

That's a special offer to exempt from the charge so it avoids the reconnection fee. BT have 'reconnected' customers for free where there is an existing line for years, this is something a bit different to get cable customers back to BT.

It is a good offer but it will not tempt me back as my speed would take a nosedive to far from my exchange.

"Back" implying they already have a BT line installed.
I'd guess that if you need a line installed to your house - then the "free" bit won't apply.
Happy to stand corrected if someone can post otherwise...

This Special Offer is available between 1st April 2009 and 30th June 2009 (inclusive) to eligible residential customers agreeing to an 18 month contract on a new line with the Unlimited Weekend Plan, the Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan or the Unlimited Anytime Plan.
Customers will not be charged the current standard new line connection price of £122.50Inc. VAT.
Customers taking this offer would be subject to the following conditions:
1. Customers must make at least 30 chargeable or inclusive calls every three month period or 10 chargeable calls or inclusive calls per month if you are billed monthly.
The only thing I wouldn't like is having to make 30 chargeable calls in the 3 months. you could use 18185.co.uk to save on calls.

Re: Free BT Line Connection save £122.50
It simply won't work, most people just can't be bothered to switch, it took nearly 20 years to get people to move away from BT!
And everyone I know who went back to BT,finished off there contracts and decided to move back to Cable or voip.
And if the line rental is £13 per month plus £5 admin fee for not paying by direct debit thats £18 per month or £44 per quarter and thats before any phone call charges and internet use as well as Calling features! Thats far too expensive and think it would be a complete waste of time switching from Virgin Media to BT.
Furthermore, BT Broadband option 3 with unlimited downloads goes up to about 6MB/8MB, most people are lucky to get 1MB, the cost of this is £25 per month, Virgin Media's M Broadband package is going to offer 10MB for £18 per month and that offers unlimited downloads, so where is the point in switching to BT Broadband!
Furthermore, BT said they cannot offer broadband at my property becuase i'm simply to far away! And i'm in Central London!

With BT billing it's usually quarterly so it's not £5 a month, it's £5 every 3 months. and you don't have to have BT as an ISP.
there's many ways to save money by not having TV and using freeview. and some people might not be bothered about saving money, but wanting an ISP with no restrictions such as Be*

No, they usually don't moan about it being 12 months as it is, but when they thought they weren't told that while you blinked they tied you to another one
Don't Virgin do 18 month contracts now anyway?
