100 Mbs in Dundee
Hi all,
We have had the first step of getting people to sign up to fibrecity here in Dundee.
VM had better pull their socks up because fibrecity looks like a bigger contender than BT is!!

Re: 100 Mbs in Dundee
If there gonna take as long as the Bournemouth operation then virgin media don't need to do any thing till the very end of 2010.
As virgin media are UK Wide the normal prices can't drop. Only retentions will be able to drop the price. They may need to HAVE a big poster on the wall with the POST CODES listed for a limited offer just for us in case we try to cancel..

Sign up to what???
An unlit fibre to the home.
When you actually have an ISP provider and are carrying traffic, then we'll all listen

When are we likely to see the first cable being laid in Dundee Paul? Do we have any idea who might be the 3rd party ISP's yet? I have VM but if they offer something better / cheaper I will jump ship in a heartbeat

Re: 100 Mbs in Dundee
Will there be any cables being put into London area at least ?
This would also give Fibrecity a good deal over virgin.
Due to the amount problems that other people have down here and also with the new STM settings and the affects of it.

I would second that, I would love to see 100mbit in London - it would be really difficult compared to Bournemouth and Dundee, but really cool too.

Re: 100 Mbs in Dundee
Hmm.
Two questions - how much, and are you going to complain to the ASA about VM's "fibre optic broadband" advertising?
I can't find how much your third party ISPs will be charging (I had my first taste of terminating fibre the other day, and given how much of an art that is, I'm guessing it'll be a lot).

They have no 3rd party ISPs right now, and terminating fibre isn't that difficult, it can be done relatively quickly and painlessly.

So how's that Dundee fibre network going? Have you caught up with Bournemouth's 50 homes connected to nothing yet?

Here's a question, how did the directors justify paying themselves 170k on turnover of 60k?
According to accounts made up to March 2008 you guys had a turnover of 60k while the directors saw fit to pay themselves 170k. Staff costs of 584k and debt of 3.2 million.

Re: 100 Mbs in Dundee
I don't get it...has anyone actually been connected yet? or is it just fibre being laid everywhere?
Assuming it's a fair price, I'd sign up in an instant if they offered it here.

At last update 50 homes were connected to the fibre network in Bournemouth but as they have no ISP on board those 50 homes aren't connected to anything useful.

Re: 100 Mbs in Dundee
This fibrecity is turning into one of the biggest white elephants ever.
No doubt they will go bust and someone will pick up their network for peanuts. Then you may get an ISP for it.
