Chain second router onto Sky DG934G

I'm currently at a client's home address trying to set up a VPN link to the office. I was intending to use a Netgear VPN router (FWG114P) and a separate D-Link ADSL modem (DSL-300T). However, I've discovered that his modem/router (Netgear DG934G) supplied by Sky is locked down so I can't replace it.

Two choices:
1) Run a VPN client on his lappy. I don't have the software to hand and experience says this is very slow.

2) Chain the two routers together. I feel uncomfortable with this and have a feeling it won't work.

Any bright ideas?

Re: Chain second router onto Sky DG934G

You could extracate the userid & password from the Sky netgear and then use your VPN router in it's place. Obviously could cause issues down the line if your client needs support from Sky unless he's adept enough to swap it back if he has any problems.

don't have the details on how to extract the id & password to hand - but a quick search on skyuser.co.uk should turn it up.

Re: Chain second router onto Sky DG934G

Thanks.

I have already investigated this route. Apparently, it's against Sky's T&Cs to use any other hardware than what's supplied. Whilst I might risk this at home there is no way I can do this for a client. There are stories of folks being cut off for this.

VPN client is the only way i can think of too. It may be slow, but it's something.
