my ex had the upto 16mb service.

He would get 9 - 12mb most of the time.

And if I'm not mistaken it only costs a tenner a month if taken with the TV package, can't be bad.

That's not bad but surely it will just attract all the users that want to cache the internet and newsgroups and the service will become unusable?

No, it's £10 if taken with Sky Talk.

I was 1.7km from the exchange in my old home and got 15mb, although thats road distance, not line. Their max package has always been unlimited as far as i know.

Yes they removed it last year sometime. It was on the Gadget Show at some stage, on their `unlimited' broadband campaign.

ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
Irrespective of which Product you have subscribed to, our Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP�) will apply to you and those who you allow to use Sky Broadband.

The ONLY true unlimited connection is an uncontended leased line. even IF theres no artifical restrictions (though there is via there AUP) theres still the restriction of contention of 25+ users sharing that 16mbps

OK section `h' is a bit worrying, but it depends on what activities are in (see Condition 4(b)) or hosting a website)'. If downloading too much is in there, they're telling porky pies about truely unlimited service.

Isn't a AUP is different than a FUP. An AUP relates to behaviour online (e.g. defamatory, threatening, obscene, harmful, pornographic or otherwise illegal material)

That's an "Acceptable Use Policy", not a "Fair Use Policy". It basically says "Don't use your Sky BB connection for anything illegal".

The "Fair Use Policy", which was previously used to limit Sky BB Max, no longer applies to Sky BB Max & has not done so for 6 months.

The other quote, regarding restrictions "To protect our network" gives examples such as sending spam or hosting a website. Both reasonable things for them to restrict.



It is still unlimited... No usage cap (soft, hard, official, unofficial), no FUP, no shaping/throttling/management, etc. etc. ...

The *only* Sky Broadband package to have any kind of traffic management/throttling/shaping is Sky Broadband "Connect", and that is only because it is a re-sold BT Wholesale ADSLMax service for people not able to get Sky's LLU services.

Sky LLU "Base"/"Mid"/"Max" - no traffic management.

and also... Sky LLU "Max" - no usage limits & no FUP.

yep, I did notice about p2p management but as I don't like what most people use it for I didn't mention it. As it helps the other customers get a better quality service. Option 1 is limited on streaming, but again that's probably a good thing as they haven't got a lot of data download available before hitting the limit.
