Re: Cheap fast broadband without landline

If already a Three mobile (pay monthly) customer, there is an unbeatable deal, half price on all mobile broadband packages, maintained as long as you keep a phone contract)
http://www.three.co.uk/personal/prod..._customers.omp

1GB/month = £5 /mo
3GB/month = £7.50 /mo
7GB/month = £12.50 /mo
Don't go to low, as it's a whopping 10p/MB beyond that - so exceed the 1GB by just 50MB and you've spent another £5

Cable is NOT superior in any way compared to ADSL or ADSL2+. With Be Broadband I get 8-10Meg, with Virgin XL i got less than that and sometimes less than 0.1 Meg!!!! during daily peak times. I have no such problems with ADSL2+, i.e Be.

I dont know how well Mr Love Monkey connects using the USB Wireless Broadband modem, but it has been mentioned on other forums that its not much better than dial up unless U have a wacking big 3g signal, and with the 3 network its not always possible even in MANCHESTER, considering its a big city. Wouldnt like to guess speeds of it in areas like Holmfirth or Aberdeen.....
Can't comment on 3's speed as I've not used my 3 mobile for browsing the internet.

I have t-mobile's wnw+ and throughput varies between about 400Kps and 2.5Mbit/s when in HSDPA coverage.

It's fine for surfing the internet or doing the odd download , you can play WOW on it although the latency is somewhat variable (sometimes it will be fine others it will lag a lot)

The Usage limits on mobile broadband products would make them largely unsuitable for anyone who wants to download more than just a few small files a month.

I don't think id want to use it as my primary connection but it's handy to use when mobile or as a backup when the Broadband goes down

Perhaps not, but if they didn't exist I'm sure our government would find some equally deserving cause to support..
