Redundancies at Pipex
It was confirmed to staff tonight that Tiscali, the new owners of Pipex, are making over 1000 people redundant. 620 of these will be at the Manchester office which is to close.
Most of the jobs will be outsourced to India.
According to my source, staff were expecting something like this for a few months.

Re: Redundancies at Pipex
I wish i put a bet on that, I think Tiscali are the worst isp ever........So sorry for the people at Manchester........yet another India call center........I had better be careful with my comments....But its nice to see that we have given our internet problem solvers in India our jobs............Just ran out of the back door and Screamed.......

Re: Redundancies at Pipex
It will lead to that situation papa smurf there isnt a unlimited pool of jobs for the people been laid of to go into but thats a different subject Obviously as far as tiscali is concerned the support will go downhill but I think as you said its just profits first.

Re: Redundancies at Pipex
Takeing what little money people earn and trying to force them onto the streets with nothing. It's seem the in thing to do especially with christmas just around the corner. I hope Gordon Brown and his bum chums are very happy with how this country is turning out to be

Re: Redundancies at Pipex
It just goes to prove that there is very little profit in ADSL when you factor in all the costs, so these redundancies are very unfortunate for those concerned, and not at all a surpirse to those in this industry.

Re: Redundancies at Pipex
today they offered two months pay, payable in febuary to try and stop people leaving my daughter has another job offer so i told her to forget it and run total redundacies could amount to 1300+ over 3 sites
we the paying public are to blame though driving the price down only caring about price and not product
