Question Which isp?

Hi, I have had cable internet since it started in my area but yesterday I terminated my contract with Virgin Media for all of my services.

I will be getting Sky HD for my tv, not my 1st choice of provider as the cable product was good but willing to let them have a go.

BT are switching on my phone and I wanted to draw on the wealth of experience of cf users to help me decide my next isp.

These are my options and any comments greatly appreciated

Re: Which isp?

Well, if you're getting Sky TV anyway, I'd recommend Sky Broadband.

It'll be far cheaper than any of the others.

I've had it since Feb. No problems at all, other than ones caused by my own extension wiring (since sorted).

Whoever you go with, plug your modem/router into the master socket if possible, or at least make sure your extensions aren't crap.

Also well worth getting a filtered faceplate:

Re: Which isp?

CW/ Bulldog or Sky/Easynet, purely because i have Tiscali, and their service is complete and utter ****e, and when i had AOL i was on the phone to their support almost daily because i either couldnt get connect to the service or kept on having disconnections.

That is what I'm kind of thinking.

Re: Which isp?

For the price, Sky broadband (if you are already going Sky TV) is a no-brainer unless it turns out truly awful, though needing to look up an UNOFFICIAL support site to set up an email client is not a good sign - if the info is on Sky's site, it is well hidden!

Re: Which isp?

Is your choice due to bundled deals or something. It seems like the poll you have attached misses a number of the currently popular ADS ISPs yet you list some like Tiscali that aren't LLU enabled in your area

Re: Which isp?

If your not wanting to go for the full Montey VM package, Sky is the next alternative, Decent sized broadband packages with TV. A few of my friends only use the net for Xbox 360 gaming and never had an issue with sky.

Re: Which isp?

Has anyone tried the new offering from the Post Office? Their prices seem too good to be true. Up to 8M Broadband & phone calls £21.95 per month which includes line rental. I understand it is the BT service re-sold under their name but cheaper!
