Chopped through overhead wires!
Hi everyone,
This is really urgent! A friend chopped through the wires that come into the persons house (the black overhead wire), and I need to know how to fix it! Is there a piece of equipment I could use, or should I solder it back together?
Thanks,
Tom

Yes, the wire before it comes into the house.

There isn't anything you can change yourself on that one so a call to Bt seems the only way.

Have you tried tying them together?

Re: Chopped through overhead wires!
Call BT, explain what has happened and tell your mate to get his credit card ready as he will have to pay for it. You cannot repair the cable yourself and to be honest if you are careless enough to cut through a very obvious cable then you need to learn the hard way not to do it again.

Especially as you could degrade his service by trying to patch it up yourself.

Re: Chopped through overhead wires!
OK, thanks for the info everyone. I went to see him at about 7pm last night to tell him he'll probably have to phone BT, but he's too busy running round Calderdale trying to find an independant to fix it!
God knows how he cut it, he was pointing a house, and must have just decided to get some scissors and cut it
Thanks for the help,
Tom

Re: Chopped through overhead wires!
He may have trouble finding someone qualified to fix it who is prepared to do it - the wire outside the house is very much a job for BT engineers only, it's not like tacking extension wires round your skirting board. It's quite possibly illegal for anyone else to touch it.
