Re: pipex help?

As above, give it 2-3 days and if there is no improvement call CS and ask them to look at your speeds.

Try the BT Speedtest and see what your ip profile is set to.

Re: pipex help?

Login to your ADSL modem/router and get the line stats.

Also have you had broadband on your line before, and therefore know you can get 3mbit?

The coverage checkers are only guessing, if your on an extension try disconnecting the ringing wires as they aren't needed thesedays if that doesn't help try in the master socket or the test socket if you have one.

(if your main socket is an NTE5a then you should be able to remove the faceplate which will disconnect all your extension's and reveal the bt test socket)

If you maintain that sync rate once your 10day training period is up your IPprofile should increase to around 1.5mbit/s

Is your modem/router connected to your master socket or an extension?

Depends on the line, ADSL max is very much a best efforts technology

you didn't say if the modem is on an extension or not (i.e a socket other than the master socket, the master socket being the main one which is where the line comes in from outside)

It can make quite a difference.

Re: pipex help?

Which modem/router do you have ? An indication of possible speed can be obtained, if you can get your attenuation and SNR stats.

try this...

Take the front off the socket, disconnect all the wires apart from the ones connected to pins 2 and 5

Do the same at the master socket.

the other wires were used to energise the bells on phones so they would ring, however modern phones have an electronic ringer so these are usually unneeded, also the ADSL mircofilter has a cacpactor in so the phone will still ring with them disconnected 2 and 5 are all that need to be connected for the line to work.

The reason to disconnect them is because they can act like an antenna and channel unwanted interference into the modem.

It may not make a difference but for some people it actually does make quite a big difference and it should only take you a couple of minutes to do so its worth a try.

See here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.htm#Speedtouch_330 on how to get your stats from that modem, and post back the results.
