Cheap provider with short minimum contract

Hi all

My girly is moving to a new house next month but will only be living there for 6 months.

I am therefore looking for a broadband provider who will have a short minimum contract period.

So far I have checked:
Nildram
Tesco
Wanadoo
BT
ntl
Telewest
Pipex
Metronet

The only two that offer short contracts are metronet and pipex. She is looking for the cheapest possible 512k service, and a 2gig or more cap would be handy. The Pipex Solo 500 Lite has a 1gig cap which isn't really enough, so total cost would work out at £22.04 a month after paying for the extra bandwidth.

Metronet is cheaper on PAYG and this is the provider that she has already, but the problem is they would charge a £59 activation fee, so the monthly cost over 6 months will effectively increase by £10 a month.

Has anyone got recommendations for a cheap contract that will allow a short contract? Equipment is not a problem as we already have that, and i'm not bothered about the quality/ cost of their technical support.

Zen Internet arent the cheapest out there (but they are the best), and they have a minimum of a 1 Month contract.

You should look into them.

All ZenADSL services are provided on minimum contracts of only one month with no-penalty cancellation. Customers stay with Zen Internet because they want to.

Cant argue with it either.

Virgin net have no contract 512 with a 3Gb download £17.99 Link
or you can pay £24.99 with no cap. The email I got from them today stated:

You can now get Virgin.net Broadband with no 12 month contract, and you'll still benefit from speeds up to 10 times faster than dial up, as well as five free email addresses with the latest anti-spam and email virus protection.

Thanks, but Zen have a £50 activation charge, and at £21.27 its a little over budget. I am not bothered about the quality of the ISP- at the end of the day it will by my own hardware (so probably not supported anyway) and thinks like connection speeds etc will depend on the BT line, rather than the ADSL provider so the ISP badge doesn't really matter to me.

Tesco and Talk Talk both have a 12month minimum contract

Plus.net do monthly accounts.
There is a £70 activation charge though, but I htink you will find something similar to all ISP if there is no ADSL in the property.

It's BT that make the initial charge not the ISP, so it get's passed onto the customer if they want a monthly contract.
