Unbundling can now take off!

Ofcom has now announced new prices for unbundling BT lines for those operators who want to get access to BTs network via LLU (local loop unbundling).

It's a significant price drop to £15.60 a year to 'rent' the line from BT plus a connection charge of £34.86.

The fees are now so low this is bound to start an unbundling epidemic!

and the end to BT's monopoloy of the ADSL wholesale network - perhaps.

or perhaps it will just end up with a 2 tier system - people in densely populated areas will be cherry picked and those in lower populated areas wont see much in the way of competition as the unbundlers will concentrate on the big citys.
