Dial Up from non NTL Line
Can anyone advise:
I have a Laptop with Broadband. Occasionally, I need to go onto the internet from another location (probably non NTL).
Can I use an NTL dial-Up accound for this?
Thanks

Re: Dial Up from non NTL Line
Thanks - but we are looking for a pay as you go system, as we have Broadband at home, and also the system should be accessable from anywhere (e.g. NTL Line &/or BT Line)

Re: Dial Up from non NTL Line
I wish I knew the definitive answer to this. I've been told it's possible to use the 1ppm / 0845 service from a BT line, but it always seems to me that it can only be done by signing up the line to NTL whateveritscalled.

But that's the unlimited freephone service, and I think you still have to sign up to the NTL line thingy, so could only be used on one line.

Re: Dial Up from non NTL Line
If you want access from any line, anytime, try any of the free 0845 providers.
Adial.co.uk are a good one - just use the login information, and away you go, from any line.

Re: Dial Up from non NTL Line
I would really like to dial into NTL, but despite what peeps have said, I do not think it's possible without signing up for the NTL calling thingy which I'm not at all sure about.
I appreciate the interest though. I just wish I knew definitively, and it's not even worthwhile calling NTL, 'cos cs rarely know much of a definitive nature.

Re: Dial Up from non NTL Line
What's your need for dialing into NTL?
There are only two things I can think of...
1. FTP access to NTL's web servers
2. SMTP access to NTL's mail servers
You don't really need access to NTL's mail servers for sending as you can send emails via any ISP but still have your 'From' address as your NTL mail address if you want.
Other than that you can receive your NTL mail via POP3 from any ISP.
I've often used my old Freeserve account as a back up dial-up account.
