such a bodge job install
Hi firstly great forums :p
After reading all the neg hype about virgin i thought s*d it i will give them a go. Install 2 days ago and this is when it started.
i was at work and we have a 2 week old so my wife could not really monitor the install guy, i got home and nearly fell over with the complete mess he made of the wiring!
here are some pics

Rang that evening when i got home and was assured a install manager would call me back the following morning, guess what no call, rang that morning was told he would ring me that afternoon, guess what? no call
Rang today and was told it was not handled correctly and he would call within 48 hrs , what a joke!
As i have built a cinema wall he said he would leave the phone box loose (unsure why) for me to attach to wall but the amount of cable he left from it was ridculous.
Shame the installer was a genuine guy and seemed really nice, i guess VM give them so much work they have to rush.
Not sure how i will proceed with this now.
Also he left metal staples on my young kids bedroom floor!!! and taped up the phone line lol
Also you will notice the sky phone cable nice and neat!! although i did tell him this was no longer used !
shocking!

Seriously dude ,don't not what your whinging about ,of course they are going to leave staples all over the floor ,i mean what else is your kid going to choke on, as for the wiring i think you are being too fussy, as long as you get a picture and the phone works who gives a crap what it looks like.
Serously though i would be on the phone every hour untill the manager had been around to see that abortion

Re: such a bodge job install
That is an utter mess. If that had happened to me I would be leaving a message that if the Installations Manager did not contact me with a view to sorting out such a sloppy and unprofessional job within the next 24 hours I would be forwarding copies of the photos to the CEO's Office.

Sarcasim to VM? lol i hope so would rather not have a picture than this mess lmao, oh also forgot to mention that im only getting 30meg MAX on a 100meg install and that on their systems its showing as a incomplete install even though its complete so he made a mistake there too

Re: such a bodge job install
Honestly that is an awful mess. I'd honestly contact the CEO office at the email given above and enclose the photos.
I've never experienced a bad install before. I had a really nice crew when I moved to my new flat and they made sure everything was really neat and tidy and actually offered to vacum up the mess left after drilling and put down a small sheet to stop the dust falling to the carpet.

Re: such a bodge job install
epic.
openreach make sure they install to the correct standards and miss other installs scheduled.
VM bodge things up with cowboy quick installs then have to go back out and miss other appointments.
not all installers are like this but theres a vast amount that fail. workload being heavy or not wouldnt efficiently installing and missing other installs be better than a half arsed job followed by further tech bookings? do VM not notice this financially? or is something better than nothing the way to go?

Re: such a bodge job install
Most (all?) VM install techs are franchised or self-employed. It's complicated crap.

Re: such a bodge job install
Still no word from VM or from Nicks "Team".
Seems like they are happy to ignore something like this.
So my next step will be beyond VM i think as this is terrible.
My first impressions of VM is they are TERRIBLE and I will now be cancelling my account and if they do not remove the wiring and sort out my door frames and the oversized holes then i will contract someone in to do it and bill them!.
Im afraid i cannot stand by and let them walk over me.
I will also be forwarding on the photos to other organisations for investigations due to the hazardous items left on scene that could have harmed my children.

Re: such a bodge job install
I can't tell you what to do but personally I would give the CEO's office at least 24 hours from the time you gave them the details they requested yesterday afternoon before you involve anyone else. You could always ask them for an update as I have seem reports on this forum of many problems being resolved by this highly placed team.

Re: such a bodge job install
CEO office do have the clout to bang heads and get stuff resolved. But they are also not front line so their activity isn't necessarily immediate. Assuming you did respond so that they can confirm your account and property, I'd expect that they are working through issues behind the scenes.

Re: such a bodge job install
Please may i request this thread is closed and first post images removed? A suitable conclusion has been offered.
I would also like to think that the installer would only recieve a telling off and nothing more sinister as everyone has an off day. He was a nice guy and very good customer skills.
My posts here was more toward VM and the way they treat you when you report something, if they had acted when i first contacted them this would not have been necessary for this thread.

Re: such a bodge job install
I blame them staple guns and the wonky eyes they have.
VM should use the pics on their sales page under 'Free Installation'
