Extending cabling

Hi,

I realise this has been asked a couple of times already, but please bear with me as there are a couple of other things I would like to confirm! I will be joining the incoming Virgin Media cable to a length of WF100 which has been buried in the wall.

I'm not sure what size of PPC-EX6 connecters I should be using (and where I should be getting them from). Also, can you recommend a good crimping tool to use with these? Do you think it is worth it, or will the set up be just as good by using screw type (or compressed fit) F type connectors? To join the two cables together, I would need a fitting like this. Will an F-type end to end connector do the job for EX6 connectors?

Also, I'm looking to get hold of a Virgin Media faceplate, as I've read that a standard F type wall termination plate is not of a good enough quality for VM. Does anyone know where I would be able to get one from?

Many thanks!

Hi it's Webro hd100 you need not wf100 it lacks 1 layer of shielding hd100 meets vm tri shielding spec exceeds it in fact

Then you need ppc ex6 nt+ connectors has a sort of funny shaped nut, ordinary ones aren't nt+ vm stopped using them recently in favour of nt+ version

Ex6 is only available in 1 size which is rg6

Re: Extending cabling

Hey there RB2004,

Thanks for your reply!

The cabling was actually already buried in before we had a chance to tell them to use HD100, so WF100 was used (I do hope it's good enough to keep noise out of the system). The VM spotter who came to our property seemed to think so.

So I've tried looking for the ex6 nt+ connectors but not had any luck- does anyone know where I can find them? They don't seem to exist according to the PPC website though?

eBay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-x-PPC-EX6-RG6-COMPRESSION-F-CONNECTORS-CABLE-SKY-VIRGIN-NTL-/160793280877?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item257 006c16d#ht_1979wt_922

The nt+ ones have the funny shaped nut whereas normal ones have normal shaped nut.

Wf100 should be ok, it's a good high quality cable and will do seeming as it is already there. It's better than what most people who do DIY connections use.

But for anybody who is thinking to put new cables in then hd100 is the way to go
