I used to have mine directly underneath the tv, the wireless transmissions effected the tv picture, when looking at areas like the corner where the vm logo is on the v+ you could see jitter

I moved mine into the cupboard under the stairs, lol because I had to have all my cabling rewired. Was more suitable there because it's roughly in the middle of the house now.

So it's now 4-5 meters away roughly

Re: virginmedia super hub

I have a Panasonic 50" TV
My Super Hub sits about 3" below and 12" to the left (as viewed) sitting parallel (inline) to the screen

I've never had any issues with any wireless router sitting there

Furthermore, I have metal foil in the corner to reflect wireless transmission back into the room (in effect back towards the TV) so that as little as possible is lost through the outside walls
The Freeview TV aerial is then on the opposite side of the TV and directly behind the right hand speaker just out of view

The equipment is hidden behind a computer, that also sits to the left of the TV, and the left hand edge of the TV table unit
