That is not a 50Mb modem, so either you have been put on 20Mb or they have not upgraded you to 50Mb.

Re: Reconnecting to Virgin broadband

Right, now that I'm back at home I can check things properly. The router is a Netgear VMDG280. My contract says I'm on Broadband size XL @ £37 per month. The Virgin website says XXL is £38 and XL is £30 without the Virgin phoneline. Am I paying £37 for an XL package that should be £30, have I been put on the wrong speed or is there something I'm just not seeing? I'm now thouroughly confused!

I couldn't log into My Virgin Media as it seems my email is not recognised!

You are on 20Mb with a 20Mb modem and you will probably be getting a £7 discount on the £37 making it £30.

Am I being stupid here, but isn't the XXL 50mb £38 and the XL 20mb £30 without the discount? I'm paying the £38 for the top package but only have the middle one as far as I can see.

You are not being stupid but those prices you quote are the discounted prices.

The full prices for BB as shown on everyone's bill before discounts are as follows:

BB M £20.50
BB L £25
BB XL £37
BB XXL £45

I have no doubt that you are paying and receiving BB XL 20Mb.

If you have any doubt, please detail the Advance Charges from your bill here, including all discount lines, and someone will explain.

Ah cool, cheers for clearing that up. Makes sense now. It's just I did ask for the 50Mb package, but obviously something went wrong somewhere. The 20 seems fast enough so I think I'll leave it as is for the moment.
