New Installation what to expect

Hello

Ive recently placed an order for XXL Broadband L TV (V+) and M Phone and the install is taking place in 2 weeks just want to know what to expect. Have only used a BT line in this flat so far, the previous occupant had NTL services but dont now what state the wiring is in and what the engineer will need to do.

The ouside wiring box seems to be in a bit of state and has cables running out of it that feed other flats in the house as well as mine(the one with the silicon protector on it)

Also a removal of the sofa reveals a connection box and phone master socket both with NTL logos on them

Is all the wiring on this in place for an easy install for the engineer or will it require some work. Plus what can i expect on the install of 50MB and V+ once is has been configured can they leave me to sort out connecting it to my TV and router or do they insist on doing that as well.

Thanks
Matt

As you're going for 50Mb, then the wiring may be inspected. I would point out that outside wiring mess to the tech that calls to your home.

They will make sure your TV can receive properly too.

Re: New Installation what to expect

wow, thats one of the neatest omni boxes i've seen....

truth is if that feed is going to other flats then you may have a signal problem, the iso in your home looks like an old analogue one and should be replaced for a digital, though this isn't really a problem, if the tech is good you shouldn't have a problem.
and if he is like me all the cables inside and out will look like new

just make sure everything is working before he leaves

Re: New Installation what to expect

Engineer called today for install and bugger me everything works done in 90 mins and one cup of tea.

The old cable mess is now fixed new splitter inside and out replaced and a new cover put on

V+ Box and modem/router

Hell even the cobwebs are gone.

Installer was a gent it seems after reading this board people can have a varying experience with VM install contractors but the guy they sent was great. I wonder if any of the mods or VM staff that post on here can give a good word from me to the installers manager or supervisor for a job well done.
