Quick question

I am fixing a PC that gets it's internet from virgin cable. They have a modem that provides the internet.

I just need to know if the installation discs etc need to be run on any pc that is used on the connection, or if I can simply plug the ethernet in and be connected, as I would from my router on my ADSL line.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Quick question

You don't need the install discs if the PC's internet connection is set to auto detect. Just power off the modem, connect the ethernet, power modem let settle, power PC and Bob should be your father's brother.

Re: Quick question

Turn PC and Modem off,
Connect Modem to PC,
Turn Modem on, wait for lights to settle down,
Turn computer on.

Et volia, internets!

Ha, beaten to it!

Thumbs up Re: Quick question

Thanks folks.

I imagined this would be the case but not having cable myself I wasn't 100% sure.
