V+ box rf connections

Hi Guys

Have just been browsing the site and realised just how much knowledge and experience there is out there. Impressive.

I was wondering if anyone could help with a small issue I have with a recently installed V+ box.

I run the box to my main tv by scart and it is fine. What I also want to do is run the signal upstairs via the RF "out" on the back of the box along with my terrestrial channels. I know this works but when I put the roof aerial cable into the rf "in" the signal coming out is inferior, with wavy lines on the screen. This is for both the terestrial and v+ box signal. If I unplug the rf "in" the V+ box signal coming out of there is perfect. So the problem is being caused by the rf signal going through the box.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is the box set up incorrectly and need Virgin to tweak it?

Any clues guys?

You might be getting interference from one of the broadcast channels being picked up by the aerial. I would say to change the RF output channel from the V+ box, but I don't know how to do this. Maybe someone else will be along shortly who can say.

Re: V+ box rf connections

You need to press and hold the 'up and down' arrows on the front of the V+ box while you press the reset button.
Keep your fingers on the 'up and down' arrows until the front display shows 'Boot" then let go.
After a few secs you should get a diagnostics screen on your TV.

DO NOT ADJUST ANY SETTINGS OTHER THAN THE MODULATOR (RF) OUTPUT. It may be set to 52 by default. Try setting it to 68 which is normally well out of the way of other channels.
Once you have changed it go to 'save new settings' and press 'OK' then wait while the box reboots.

Try tuning your second TV again.

Re: V+ box rf connections

Sorry to resurrect this one but I just wanted to say many thanks to Jonnymeg for his posting.

It just enabled me to do something I wanted to do.

And, just in case anybody asks, yes, I am using Scart but what I wanted to do was take an RF feed from the V+ box into another room and when I did that I was having problems with interference between the V+ box and another product, which has now gone away.

Thanks!

Cheers

Bob

not sure about V+ receivers but with standard V receivers you cant get it perfect, as you will always loose some of the signal. however buying high grade satellite tv cable will improve it. also most RF outputs will give a loss of signal, so i would of thought that V+ receivers would be the same.
