New Build House

Hi,

I'm moving to a new build house (1 of 17 that are being build in the area) Does anyone know if Virgin media carry out new installation i.e. Do they lay cable to the houses?

I've read somewhere that if you can get 10 new customers to sign up they will carry out an installation.

Can someone clarify please.

HI

I Moved into a similar sized development a few years back, the builders had had the foresight to get an NTL (as it was then) spec as to how they like the wiring done, so all the housing was wired to this spec and cable runs left from the NTL miniature manhole to the houses.

So I suppose the answer to your question is yes, if you are near to existing cable in the street.

One funny side to the story is that the NTL engineer still wanted to drill a hole through the wall to get the cable into the house. I had to get on the blower to the electrician so he could talk the NTL guy through the wiring!

Re: New Build House

A chap just rang me from NTL and said yes they can install the cable as the main cable runs along the houses. So great news for me

Re: New Build House

If your address has only just been built it won't be on the VM data base yet. If the cable is in the road, and not to your property you'll never have services unless you've got a spotter working in you are. (spotters will inspect a property and have it created on VM data base as serviceable) You'll need to request a spotter. Do it sooner not later to avoid disappointment.
