Switching my Virgin Broadband to new PC

Hi Guys,

never done anything like this before so really hoping for a step by step guide on how to effect the transfer!

Both PC's run on Windows XP.

Re: Switching my Virgin Broadband to new PC

is your BB through a modem or a set top box?
if its a modem it will still be registered and you can just plug it all in, do a reboot and your away.

If its through a set top box you may need to re-register your new pc.

Re: Switching my Virgin Broadband to new PC

Thanks for that.

It is a modem which I connect using the Ethernet cable.

I tried just plugging it in to my new PC and powering up but nothing happened?

I also tried pulling the cable out and then putting it back in and again nothing happened?

Does it have to be a re-boot?

Will I need my virgin installation CD?

Turn the Modem off and on again and then plug your new PC and it will/should work

Re: Switching my Virgin Broadband to new PC

Been through this myself yesterday with my new computer.

I was resigning myself to having to phone India then remembered the old script routine about unplugging anything CS can dream up and for once the script was right on. Unplugged the modem and once it was plugged back in my BB connection sprang into life.

.....Well sprang is really an exaggeration...lets just say that my BB crawled back into the land of the living. No change there then.
