Quick question......

Hey fellas,

I currently have my STB plugged into the white box on the wall in my living room and my broadband modem plugged into the white box on the wall in my upstairs bedroom. What I want to know is can I swap the modem and STB so that my TV supply is then upstairs and my Broadband supply downstairs ???? are they interchangeable like that ??? The screw in connectors at the end of the white wires look the same on both wires......do they carry the same data ????

STB (Explorer 4200DVB)
Modem (Webstar EPC2100Series)

Is it that easy, or do I need to fork out £75 to get them out to "swap" the wires ???

Any advice is much appreciated

Cheers,
Toffee

Yep you can swap them over as they share the same connection. However be careful not to damage the connectors, especially the little thin central bare bit of wire.

In rare cases there might be issues with signal strength that had been adjusted for the STB and modem separately. If you do find yourself getting unexplained connectivity faults, then you'd have to revert to your current layout.
