Moving Set-Top Box
Hello, i hav a telewest broadband connection. Mi box is connected to the tv ariel socket in the kitchen, and is run into my room.
I am moving to another room in the flat next week...can any1 help me! Telewest hav said itl cost me 75 buks for them to get sum1 to do it for me....
Would it be possible for me to keep the set-top box in the original room; buy a long ethernet lead, and run the ethernet lead from the new room, to the set-top box in the original room?! if u get me?!

:Welcome to Cable Forum
As Zeph state yes you can have a long long ethernet lead. The alternative if wiring isn't practical would be to consider going wireless.

And extending your wires by ethernet won't affect the speed. Nor would wireless as even the most basic wireless still runs faster than the broadband connection.

Re: Moving Set-Top Box
Ethernet has the RJ45 connectors at each end. So yes that's what you will need. If in doubt take your existing cable to the shop with you so you can match it up.
20m is a long long cable length. You will probably need to find a proper computer shop rather than the major chain store. It may even be at that lenght that the shop has to make the cable up for you. On the other hand : http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...00509&id=44191

Re: Moving Set-Top Box
Us NTL engineers in the celtic region (scotland & ireland) dont carry ethernet cables to make up leads. We use SACM'S which have the cable with them
Sorry,
I'd try maplins.

Re: Moving Set-Top Box
Put RJ45 cable in googles , Loads of web sites where you can get all sizes.
Nickknows.com looks a good one
