Moving House to Uncabled Area
I am about 2 months into a 12 month contract with Telewest, and am moving house, and the area is uncabled (i.e. i cannot recieve any telewest packages).
When signing up, i knew there was a chance i may move, and so i asked the telewest guy what would happen.......
he said that they would transfer my services to my new house for free, if the house was in a caled area, and if they couldn't they would just terminate the contract, so either way i wouldn't be able to lose if i did move house.
Now i'm moving its a different story (surprise surprise). Now they want me to pay up the remianing 10months contract. What can i do? is it just that i've got a dodgy customer services rep that doesn't know what they're talking about (woulnd't be the 1st time ever eh?) or have i been conned in the first place?

Unless that amendment to the original contract was in writing, you won't have a leg to stand on.
I would always get something in writing if it deviated from any standard documentation.

A CSR who closed the deal with a little white lie.
Can you find out who that CSR was? They may be able to coroborate your story. Did you get their name?

if you are going to have to pay then it may be worth bartering with them to see if they will reduce the amount you are going to owe them , to the site btw

Doesn't mention a 12 month contract.

Re: Moving House to Uncabled Area
Your bill will be for the minimum contract requirement, e.g. basic TV, slowest BB and basic phone line rental. Probably the 3-4-30 so a cancellation fee of £300. Ouch. This is one place NTL do better than TW as they used to not charge and now require you buy their offnet package instead which at least means you recieve service for your money.
Could you negotiate with the person moving into the property to continue the service and suggest that the continuous service might be a get out of jail card to TW.

The only way you could do this is if the person taking over the account has lived at the property for over 6 months if they havent you will have to cancel the accout yourself and they would have to get a fresh install
