Sorry, but when someone's first post on the site is to advertise another site, it smells quite like chopped pork and ham to me!

In defence of the OP, spammers don't usually respond to accusations of being a spammer... (but it does look a little fishy)

Re: Intl Call Rate Checker.

I can assure you its a genuine posting meant in good faith to help folks. If i was say a Just dial agent promoting my own range of numbers, which i made a profit from i could understand your response. But this is a genuine site, full of money saving phone tips.If your mod,s consider it to be spam no doubt they will remove it.

In any case its its hardly a good advert for this site to welcome a new member by jumping down their throat, when they are trying to be helpful for no monentary gain.

Rob C.
Sorry if i broke the rules,it was not intentional.
I can understand why you block spam, but where some one is trying to genuinely members save money, i think that it is unfair not to allow such posts.I notice that 18866/1899 is mentioned on this site and its ok to mention those moneysaving service,s,but not another one.It appears to me double standards apply .
Or is it that you dont welcome new members who display a little iniative. After allthe initial reception was hardly welcoming, even though this was resolved amicably.

Re: Intl Call Rate Checker.

Double standards? Probably more a case that the 18866/ 1899 service is only mentioned and not actively linked to, that way the members themselves have to put a little effort into looking into the service and deciding if it is something that can be of use to them.
If you had taken the time to contact the team about posting the link or even mentioned it in the thread and asked within the thread if the link should be posted you would have been greeted a lot more warmly and would have been given guidance on the best way to approach linking to other services etc. Posting a link like that in a first post is the "spammers way" and since the site gets spammed regularly the posts are often jumped on.
Usually the post is just reported but as you can see sometimes people do comment on the thread. No-one is stopping people showing initiative but posting across multiple threads complaining of your treatment probably won't be helping much lol. By the way what threads are the 18866/1899 things mentioned? Must admit to having missed seeing it mentioned.

Re: Intl Call Rate Checker.

For such a prolific poster as yourself i find it amazing thatyou have missed threads mentioning 18866/1899 other money saving sites. If you care just to search under 18866 you will find quite a few postings, amongst them someone advocating the use of simply-fone,and another money saving site.

I do appreciate why you are tough on spammers. But to block a genuine money saving tip does seem to me absurd ,and the welcome i initially got gave me the impression you were trying to run some sort of exclusive cable forum, that did not welcome any iniative. After all i am sure some of your members might want to cut the cost of their phone bills i know i would.

The reason i put a response in one other thread, was it might just be a valid reason why members dont revisit. This hardly warrants the term multiple threads. The truth often hurts!

Re: Intl Call Rate Checker.

Maybe I missed the mention of those items as they are in areas that don't interest me so I don't read those threads? I rarely make international calls so I wouldn't have read threads around those subjects on the forum. Being a "prolific poster" doesn't mean you read every post on the forum, it just means you take an active part in a number of threads or that you post a lot of rubbish
Since I don't run this site so the moderation and reception of your post had nothing to do with me. Maybe you should contact Mick or Neil (or any other team member) to discuss having the link put back into your post? Asking for permission to post it would probably have stopped it being removed in the first place but opening a dialogue with the team now may actually clear the air a bit and get the link back in the post.
BTW, the Missing members thread is about long standing members who have left the forum for varying reasons (including health and personal reasons) and if you were to stop dragging your initial reception up in other threads and just get on with being part of the forum and post in threads that you have an interest in, you may find people have a lot more understanding and respect for you (in my opinion).

Another friendly welcoming posting from a member who admits he is not really interested in the subject my first post was about? and partly in response to a suggestion why some members dont come back.(Their are obviously lots of reasons why. This type of response no doubt being one of them.)

PS.If you look carefully my post about the link timed 9.49am today it was addressed to Rob C.
