Thanks busboy,

I didn't think it was but thought that after all this time VM would have got it implemented.

Re: Caller ID In Solent Region

Hmmm, that's strange as when I called customer services (150) they told me that it wasn't enabled in the Portsmouth area.

Re: Caller ID In Solent Region

It may be available in portsmouth but is not supported.

CLI was trialled in many ex-ICMS areas but due to difficulties with the hardware it was decided that it couldn't be sold as a feature (too many issues for a good level of service if everybody uses it).

Re: Caller ID In Solent Region

I am in the PO12 area as well. I asked about it when I first signed up. Their website said it was available but I could not get it though. Had quite a big row with them asked them why they advertise it as being generally available but they can not supply it. I got a months free rental to shut me up. I agree if BT has had it for ages why does it take Virgin Media all this time to upgrade their "green box's". I think it should be free as well and included in the basic phone service!

Re: Caller ID In Solent Region

The problem now (apart from cost) is that a lot of the telephony equipment in the streets is obsolete & no longer supported by the manufacturers. Some parts are no longer available. I think VM are hoping a VOIP solution will solve the problem but I don't know how far away that is from fruition.

Re: Caller ID In Solent Region

Very True....... very sad that a company that was at the forefront of modern technology (Nynex Days) is now falling behind with even the most basic of services. Even BT with their copper wiring have mastered this.

Re: Caller ID In Solent Region

If the street mux has'nt had the line cards upgraded to CLI one's,then caller ID may/wont be available.
