1471 on VM is it free?
Having recently, well two months ago, switched from BT to VM for their phone service I noticed I no longer get 1471, is this service available on VM? if so is it free? and finally can I activate it from my home line or do I need to call 150? Thanks for any help in advance.

Think there is a code to activate it, but are you sure it's just not down from a fualt or something?
Either way, ring VM. Should be free to get sorted.

Re: 1471 on VM is it free?
You need to ring C/S and ask for it to be added to your line, should be FOC. If you've never had it since switching from BT then it won't be a fault, just needs adding on. Not something you can activate yourself no matter how many codes you try

Thanks for that Marge, to be honest I wasn't holding out much hope on the code front, I suppose I was grabbing at straws to avoid the 150 encounter

Re: 1471 on VM is it free?
Should be nice, quick and easy
Frogstamper: Can I add Voicemail to my phone line, the free one please
VM person: Certainly Mr Frogstamper, I've added it on now for you, give it up to 24 hours (to be on the safe sound barring any delays on the switch) and it should all be working
*Actually telephone features used to be something I used to enjoy doing, they were so quick and simple to get sorted

Re: 1471 on VM is it free?
If 1471 isnt added onto the account, it is a fault as it should have been added on to the line automatically.
1571 can be added by cs though.

Re: 1471 on VM is it free?
At least thats free, BT charge 6p everytime you press 3 whether the call connects or not.
Other expensive BT rip offs:
Anonymous caller Rejection: £4 per month (VM charge £1.75)
Call Minder: £2.50 per month (VM charge £1.75 for Voicemail extra)
Charge Advice: 17p per time, yet the recorded info line say its free!
Calling Features pack: £4.50 (VM charge £3.75)

Yes you should be able to, it is not allowed to allow 1471 through payphones therefore, 1471 is removed from telephone lines, Mercury/Inter-Phone payphones were connected to cable lines so if Videotron,Nynex and Cable London could do it for them, I'm sure they would do it for all of its customers.
