No phone service after upgrade to V+

Hi, I desperately need some help to get my phone service working. On Thursday 20th I had a new V+ box installed and the installers connected the old into another room. From what I can tell they took a feed from the brown box on the wall where the cable comes in from the street and ran a new cable to the additional room.

TV is all fine but I have realised today that my landline does not ring in the house. I have called Cust Servcies and logged a fault and they have told me it will be 27th at the earliest before someone attends.

I have looked at the brown wall box and I can see several wires hanging out. It looks like the engineers failed to connect up my phone properly after adding the additional cable box. Not sure why they needed to mess with it in the first place but there you go.

When I call my landline from a mobile I get a ringtone so am pretty confident it is the wiring from the brown box into the house.

I am pretty competent with wiring but am not familiar with how it should be wired. I have one extension upstairs which was a second line but when I no longer needed it the engineer wired it as an extension ( he said he shouldn't have but he had done so). I have one master socket downstairs and an extension running from that.

Can anyone tell me how it should be wired or am I stuck until 27th!!

Thanks.
