Angry PC won't acquire IP from router when wireless

Mother-in-law's Belkin wireless adsl modem/router is really starting to cheese me off. It has always been temperamental but now it's being downright bl00dy minded. I am browsing fine by wire, but it will not assign an IP address to the wireless card. Network Connections confirms that the PC is connected wirelessly (encryption correctly set up, password accepted and all that) but connectivity is limited as it was unable to get an IP.

I have re booted the router and the PC, and I have altered the LAN settings to force it to renew IP leases, all to no avail.

The wireless NIC is built in to this Advent laptop of hers and uses Intel Proset for Wireless software, which doesn't seem to atart up properly I don't suppose that helps.

Anyone got any ideas?
