SMHarman While a little outragous that they have done this you have to remember that the import duty will end up with the SriLanken Govt who then have more money to spend on rebuilding the country, the problem being that this may then be directed in a way the Charity may not desire, though I don't think the Sri Lanken govt is particularly corrupt.

Money raised through customs duty into government treasury, then no doubt followed by a gradual shifting, drip by drip of monies to be used for personal gain. Try looking at what Transparancy International have to say.
