Re: grow old faster by.....
Over the years I have been registered with 14 GP's in a variety of areas. All of them have been skinny non smokers except one who was a fat non smoker.
I only ever seem to consult the GP when either 1) my right ear succumbs to a draughty environment & requires drops prescribed, or 2) my tonsils flare up due to contact with someone in the winter that has tonsillitus and I need amoxycillin to kill the local infection.
Inevitably, having looked up my history over 40+ years, the GP (who has never met me before) reluctantly dispenses the drops/antiboiotics along with a lecture about not smoking and 'do try to lose some weight old chap, you are a big fellow' I am cured in 2 days and the GP, bless him, dies soon after.
About 3 years later I get the old itchy ear or discomfort swallowing, ring up the Surgery, wait while they dig in the archives and discover the GP who saw me last has passed on, but I can have an appointment with Dr. Newbie-Lecturer and the cycle is repeated.
I accept one of these days the Doctor will be right and will gleefully put the cause of my demise as excess weight and smoking.
