I too am having this problem, I usually get one of the Cosham proxies as a default, none of which appear to recognise TVtomes URLs.
I have no idea how to get the proxies to refresh, but as a stop gap, I force IE to use an NTL proxy which does recognize the URLs whenever I think I am going to be referring to TvTome.
In IE6 go to Tools->Internet Options, select Connection tab, click on LAN settings. Tick "use proxy server" and pick a different NTL proxy. I am currently using a Guildford proxy for this, but you can try various to suit you.
