I'm not sure you want to - p2p implies you share, so your machine has to be 'vulnerable' somehow, for that to occur ???

Re: help i think somebody trying to access my machine....

If you are using Bit Torrent, some trackers are very badly coded and don't release your IP address when you come out of the swarm. This means that the tracker thinks that you are still connected to the swarm so points everyone towards you for parts of the file. Eventually the tracker will drop you when the parts of the file that you had been uploading have been handed over by someone else.

As I always say to people who start threads like this: why the hell would anyone would to access your machine? To see the pics of your dog?!

No one will be trying to access your machine - it'd probably be about as interesting to a cracker as cooking beans, unless you work for the CIA.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it boths you so much, close all your P2P software and get a new IP address.

Well actually there are reasons why hackers would attack a home user

A. to install a key logger to steal passwords and the like
b. To steal the users identity if data is stored
c. To store illegal imagery or data(pedophiles have been known to sotre data on hacked machine but this is of course rare and not likely)

im sure there is many more reasons than this and of course dont lose sleep about these

Your firewall is doing it's job mate just ignore it.

I never understood what use the Norton locate facility was afterall waht can you do to stop an attack on your home PC if it's happening other than change IP.

Okay, granted, there are one or two reasons. But they don't happen very often. (And when key loggers are installed, it's - I gather - more often from a lack of security that allows it to happen on a large basis with no one personally choosing a computer, just an open one.)

Re: help i think somebody trying to access my machine....

Script kiddies have the means to scan 1000s of ips ranges in a day its inevitable they will find useable ports open to hit someone somewhere. The firewall stopping whatever it was shows the OP is fine anyway and as said it was most likely not hacker related

I get several attacks of these types. I also have McAffee firewall. Don't worry about it. The firewall is doing it's job. Most are not any attacks at all.
