Norton Personal Firewall (if you are willing to pay)

You could downlaod and install SP2 if you want a basic firewall or are you not able to for some reason

Not to knock your suggestion mate but many users on here are reporting issues with Norton products

Re: can anyone recomend a free firewall

There are very few reasons not to go SP2..

For most standard home users, this is fine and will give you minimal protection, but thats all you will need.

SP2 has been around for so long now i cannot see a reason why not to install it.

Black ice if you really want to leave SP2 not installed is what I owuld sugggest. both norton and zone alarm seem to take to many system resources...

There are a few listed here it's a dated thread, so some of them maybe paid for or discontinued.

Re: can anyone recomend a free firewall

like Nffc said I would go for Kerio, its good, free and quite easy to use. other then that I would be thinking about say Outpost by Agnitum (was a freebie on the PCadvice magazine of may) otherwise its about £20 a year.
