Lager-Q trojan virus problem

I've recently had the misfortune of having my main PC infected with a virus which Avast detects as 'Lager-Q trojan' in /system32/taskdir.dll. It offers to delete the file but then redetects it seconds later. The effect seems to be that it installs a load of different spyware and starts firing off random e-mails. I thought I'd got rid when I deleted a whole batch of system files rather recklessly, but all of a sudden it's come back.
I've searched through Google and Symantec but can find little about it or how to remove it. Avast seems powerless to sort it out.

Can anyone help?

Re: Lager-Q trojan virus problem

O.K. the first thinh you need to do is get the pc into safemode.

Next turn off system restore as many virus's will copy themselves in there.

When you have done that run a complete AV scan and spyware scan. In safe mode !

Re: Lager-Q trojan virus problem

Hmmm sounds bad my friend. I have also had many virus's in the past but have always managed to get rid of them eventually after alot of effort. Have you tried to quarantine the virus ? this may stop it from spreading and infecting other files. Also if your anti-virus cant remove it then try using google for a tool. I know that you have tried this but if you have the virus name you should be able to find sumthing. Also yes use safe mode as stuartbe said. Maybe try spybot search and destroy also if its causeing addware. Good luck and I hope you sort it out.

Re: Lager-Q trojan virus problem

Visit one of the free spyware help forums, they are experts at removal of all types of virus and malware. If you want the url of a trusted ASAP member site please pm me and I will give you one I have used personally. I would post it here but don't want to spam the boards.

The guts/gals at the site will guide you through the cleaning process and will not give up until your pc is clean (though they are busy, so please be patient)
