Anti Virus
I am getting Zone Alarm Firewall for my PC, but i need to know a good Anti Virus program.
Upon installing Mc Afee it slows my system down and wont open Word Documents, now i am stuck as to what to use for protection.
Any ideas?

Re: Anti Virus
Avast Home Edition. Very nice software and doesn't slow the system down. It's made by Alwil.

Re: Anti Virus
I would go for Nod32.
You buy it online and download it directly. It costs about £20 but is very worth it. It did really well in tests last year and was what was reccomended to me a few months ago too.
More info and a trial to download can be found here: http://www.eset.com/
I could run this happily in the background doing a virus scan of my whole system and it didnt use up much memory at all. I could continue working with no slow down of the PC.

Re: Anti Virus
I have not had any probs with the free Avast either (previously used Norton and McAfee, both of which caused me probs in the long run)

Re: Anti Virus
You could always try the Zone Alarm AV? I'm using the full ZA Internet Security and have never had any problems with it slowing me down.

Re: Anti Virus
I read a review in a PC mag last month that recommended the new version of Kaspersky antivirus. They've just reduced their prices and it was the most effective on test...

Re: Anti Virus
NOD32 here too. Fast, efficient, with regular updates and easily configurable.
For independent reviews, check out http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/index - it requires registration, which is free... or you can 'borrow' someone's details from www.bugmenot.com

Re: Anti Virus
I personally wouldn't touch ZoneAlarm with a HUUUUGE Bargepole, it causes so many problems.

Re: Anti Virus
I use Kaspersky
The new v6 is spot on and don't drag the puter down at all.
It's the only one I have ever used that makes you wash your hands before you start typing just in case.
