Not that messenger. There are two versions of Messenger on XP. One is the Messenger that you speak of, which is shut off by default in SP2. The other is a barebones MSN Messenger - this is the one I speak of.

Windows Messenger is a bit pants though isn't it, lets face it.
There's nothing wrong with using Messenger Plus! as long as you remember to not install the sponsor.

Mine does that by itself sometimes, a bit bizarre seeing as i set it to sign in as Appear Offline.
