Arrow Looking For A Good Internet FireWall & Anti-Virus Program.

Hey guys.

I was just wondering, if anyone has got any good internet firewalls and antivirus's programs. My friend Jenni told me to get Norton 2006. She said, her dad says that it's the best around.

Is this true? Thanks.

No. Norton can be utter poo, false positives and so on. My favourites are GRISoft's AVG Free http://free.grisoft.com for Antivirus, I use Sygate Personal Firewall which isn't made anymore, someone will come along with a good Firewall though Im sure.

Re: Looking For A Good Internet FireWall & Anti-Virus Program.

No its not true - for a AV try NOD32 from www.eset.com its far better than norton.

For a Firewall have a look here - http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...433#post708433

Theres a discussion going on - but beware that some firewalls are harder to configure than others.

No TBH it slows systems down and takes up a lot of resources.

I asked a similar question a few months ago and was pointed towards Nod32 which you buy online for about £20.
It's not available in the shops.
Comapred to other Anti Virus software I have tried, Nod32 used up a lot less resources and didnt slow down my system, even when scanning.
I vote for Nod32

Re: Looking For A Good Internet FireWall & Anti-Virus Program.

Yeah - NOD is a great AV, when Norton scans your system it slows right down - when NOD scans it, you need to check the logs to be sure

You just re-register and then it's another 12 months.

I recommend Eset's NOD32 as well.It hasn't let me down since I started using it unlike AVG did.
