beware McAffee update

seems the recent signature update detects many legitimate files as infected

It was on their site for less than 5 hours, if you had downloaded it you would have known by now. The update has since been replaced

damn - I was hoping the whole site would send me large quantities of money for saving them from pc meltdown

Yep this is true, but McAfee release their signatures at roughly the same time every day, so although it was only on for 5 hours, lots of customers would have been expecting the DAT file, and it would have been automatically downloaded and pushed out within that timeframe. Also, it took McAfee a relatively long time to produce a fix to un-quarantine the files, which was only released on Monday.

Well, Linux users have always said that Windows was the biggest virus of all and Mcaffee, for 5 hours at least, decided they were right and classed most of the OS as a trojan.
