Windows Automatic Update Feb 14th 06
Well, it's Update Tuesday. Is anyone else having problems with downloading and installing Security Update for Windows XP (KB913446)?
All I get is "failed" when it tries to download this update. The other updates worked fine. GRRR!
Cheers,
Sime

Think windows update is having a few issues at the moment. Just wondering about trying a different proxy to see if it's a network problem causing it.

Mine doesn't work by WinUpdate (via IE) - am trying the manual DL now.

Re: Windows Automatic Update Feb 14th 06
Think there was a similar problem a while back with an update, MS had to pull it and rebuild it before it would work automatically. Manual update should work for all users.
Just to add though..... it fails on pirated copies of XP or copies that are running patched TCPIP files..... as well as failing for no reason lol. Think the standard XP/ XP PRO file may need replacing on the Auto Update site but if you are running a patched TCPIP file or a slightly dubious copy of XP you stand a good chance of it failling.... it will however download and install manually

AutoUpdate worked a treat for me today - not sure if it downloaded last night or this morning.

Re: Windows Automatic Update Feb 14th 06
I have a completely legit copy of XP Home with windows genuine advantage and all that on it! It came free with all the other crap bundled on my Compaq and it still failed last night, so looks more like a bug to me as the other five updates worked a treat.

Re: Windows Automatic Update Feb 14th 06
That explains why mine failed- I hacked the TCPIP to speed it up!

Re: Windows Automatic Update Feb 14th 06
my tcpip is modded to allow 50 half open connections and I had no failures, also after the update I remodded back to 50.
