SpywareBlaster 3.5 out
Had to force refresh my page but SpywareBlaster 3.5 is out and ready for download.
SpywareBlaster
Quote:
New in this version:
* SpywareBlaster Turbo-Update Technology: Faster and more frequent updates
* Various feature and protection enhancements
* Further optimizations to certain parts of the program
* And lots of other bug fixes and requested tweaks
This 3.5 release provides enhanced updating, performance, and bug fixes.
NEW UPDATING OPTIONS IN SPYWAREBLASTER 3.x
SpywareBlaster still offers the built-in Check for Updates feature. This feature is completely free and allows you to keep up-to-date by clicking on a button in the SpywareBlaster interface.
SpywareBlaster 3.5 now offers SpywareBlaster AutoUpdate - a brand-new updating solution. Just set it up, and AutoUpdate will check at every system boot for the latest updates and enable the newest protection (other options are available).
As much as we would like to provide auto-updating functionality for free, costs are simply too great to make it feasible. AutoUpdate functionality is $9.95 (US) per year, which helps to cover the bandwidth costs. The Check for Updates function remains completely free, as does SpywareBlaster. You only need to pay if you wish to have the extra convenience of AutoUpdate.
Enjoy!
Best regards,
-Javacool

CTRL + F5, some of the proxies have yet to refresh. If it doesn't reload to 3.5 you may need to wait till tomorrow.
Or I can save you the bother and point you to here

Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5 out
Thanx for that Paul.
How do you reckon SB compares with Antispyware, SBS&D, Ad-aware and stuuf?

Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5 out
I don't compare them to be honest, they all do specific jobs and they do them well. I overlay multipl tools so that I can be as secure as possible in my browsing

Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5 out
I tend to use Adaware, Spybot, Spyware Blaster and MS Antispyware and find them to be a good combination.

Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5 out
Yep looks like they found a few bugs to fix and had to put another release out.

Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5 out
Quick couple of questions.............Just installed under administrator does that then cover me for other accounts.............
I just logged in as other account and it appears as a short cut but do I then have to open/run it to get the protection or just run it 'as and when' like adware or spyboot.
Thanks
Mike

Pity then that AdAware is now a piece of crap as is M$ antispyware as they specifically now DON'T check for known spyware. Worse, Microsoft has recently downgraded several adware products from "quarantine" to "ignore.". A good example is the Claria GAIN, formerly knowns as Gator and one of the most hated adware companies around. Do some searching around. I'm not posting a link to the s/w I use as I thought we weren't supposed to advertise commercial software on this forum. If you really want to know then PM me.

No it only covers active x controls across multiple accounts. You have to log into each account and run it to protect each user (currently but it has been asked for in the wish list for future development).

Which is why Stu, myself and several others here run MULTIPLE tools No tool is perfect and no software coder is above error so what one tool misses another will find. You should NEVER trust one tool to do the job 100% correctly and should always have some form of secondary scan running.
You don't have to post a link to the software if you feel you will be breaking the rules but you can post the name of this all singing, all dancing, 100% accurate and perfect tool that you are talking of.

Paul
When you say 'run it' is that running which adware/spyboot or run it as starting up when you log on and running it is the toolbar at the bottom ?
Thanks
Mike

Re: SpywareBlaster 3.5 out
Log into each account and then run the spywareblaster tool, when it runs tell it to enable all protection for that account. You don't need it to run at each account login as long as you go in now and then to keep it updated as that has to be done manually. (It's a run once and forget system of protection in some regards)
