Question Kerio Personal Firewall problem

For a few weeks now, according to several speed tests, I have only been getting, roughly, a 1meg connection instead of 2 meg.

Rang up ntl faults and they confirmed that everything was as it should and they suggested that I try downloading a file in safe mode. I was then back to the right speed.

She suggested that it might be the firewall.

Well I was getting 2meg, but then at the end of July, there was an update for Kerio. Not long after that, I noticed the drop in speed.

I have now uninstalled Kerio and the speed is back to normal.

I don't suppose that this has happened to anybody else?

My computer just does not like having a firewall on it.

Re: Kerio Personal Firewall problem

Supposed to be 1 Mb here and it seems to be about right- I do have it LANned so it's always difficult to tell...

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Kerio see if that helps.

Re: Kerio Personal Firewall problem

Tried reinstalling it. No change.

What version are you using? I was using v4.2 which I got from an auto-update. It did seem to start soon after that, beginning of August.

Luckily, I have got a router to fall back on.

try seeing if you can wipe the configs when you uninstall.

Re: Kerio Personal Firewall problem

I have just installed Sygate and that hasn't affected the connection speed at all.

Damn, I liked Kerio as well.

On a separate note, when I was on the Sygate website, I noticed a link to this Not good news at all.

Re: Kerio Personal Firewall problem

Also I have heard Kerio Personal Firewall is to end at the end of this year with support running to Dec 2006.

Give me time to find a link to show you too.

I agree it is not, I like Sygate and don't fancy the bloat Symantec like to put into there stuff.

Looks like a move to Zonealarm may be needed shortly if they bloat Sygate up.

Kerio is a good little firewall or it would be if it didn't halve my connection speed, but my computer just doesn't like software firewalls.

Though I do hate Symantec/Norton with a vengence after what happened to my computer.

Re: Kerio Personal Firewall problem

I used to buy there software religiously, until I joined here, then I now use Avast! and Sygate Personal.

Now to my question

my computer has nvidia firewall, of which I could install and run, this says coupled with sp2 xp firewall I have no need for Sygate? is this true?
