AVG Free Windows 7 :(

Hi all

Just installed on a laptop running windows 7..

Once installed the laptop took ages to book up and just kept freezing so ended up going in via safemode and uninstalling.

Any ideas why...........?

Also is there any free av out there which works well with windows 7.

Many thanks for your time

Regards

Mike

Re: AVG Free Windows 7 :(

By default a lot of a/v software is set to do a scan on startup. That puts a lot of load on systems as they try and check the hard drive.

Also make sure that if installing your own a/v any other a/v is properly disabled or deleted. That includes things like defender which can be a default part of Windows 7.

I have Avast on my laptop and I always connect wirelessly to the 'net.

On start-up Avast tries to update immediately, it cannot do this until the laptop has established wireless connection with the router and then connected to the Avast update site and downloaded and installed any updates. This appears to slow start-up and the laptop appears to freeze until the update has completed.

Maybe this is the problem you are seeing with AVG?
