Exclamation Warning for retailers who accept card payments online

If you have an online business that accepts card payments, then check your security settings. It seems that online credit card fraud is becomming more and more common, especially using foreign business charge cards, that aren't part of the 3D secure system (this is where you get a pop up from your card issuer requesting a user name and password).

Make sure that your settings don't allow payments through from cards that aren't part of the the 3D secure system. It seems that the default settings on many gateways will allow payments through for cards that are not part of the 3D system. Most UK cards are part of the 3D system.

This could lose you some sales, but it could also save you a fortune lost to fraud.

I would put more details on here, but I can't in case the information gets into the wrong hands.
