Cool The only AntiMalware/Antivirus you will ever need

http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-antivirus

I swear by avira , they update their database once a week with new protection, they don't fake a lot of updates either like a lot of other free antivirus's. Top notch program its on par with almost all antivirus you can buy.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Without a doubt the best malware detecting program in the world for normal computer clients , they again update their datebases every week , i personally own the full version to the program , its brilliant!

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Ccleaner

Clear up all the crap on your computer that stores itself in locations that are a pain to get to , you can also repair broken or lost registry entry's with its quick reg tool.

http://www.comodo.com/

Comodo is the best standalone firewall you can get , a lot of company's/ business's use it has its extremely hard for anyone to bypass it , its a lot simpler to use now than it was a year ago , much more in-depth than your standard firewall on windows and much more secure.

All of the above is free , and its the only protection your computer will ever need to stay safe , it will be bulletproof!

Best AV is Eset's Nod32 with added anti-malware if you so choose.

Re: The only AntiMalware/Antivirus you will ever need

Personally i use Zone alarm extreme security it searches for anti virus updates hourly.!

Zone alarm also have one of the best firewalls on the market.

And it comes with a registry cleaner, although i prefer CC cleaner to get rid of the rubbish from my PC.

Also the best thing is the new version is very light on PC resources so its very easy to surf whlist a scan or update is taking place.

But of course mine is a paid for one,for a free one yours sounds pretty reasonable.

Re: The only AntiMalware/Antivirus you will ever need

My set up is:-

Avast (Antivirus)
Malwarebytes (Malware)
Comodo Firewall + Hardware Firewall
Sandboxie (sandbox)
Ccleaner (removes history etc)
Eraser (secure file erasing)

And the best part these are all FREE Downloads, no need what so ever to spend money on security these days with such good free alternatives available.

Have to admit that CCleaner is brilliant. Why M$ felt it necessary to hide the Temporary Internet files in Vista and Win7 I'll never know but CCleaner clears them out, and there's a good basic Registry cleaner too.

As always it depends what you want mine updates several times a day with new signatures and contains quite a few extras plus additional company support not always available with the "free" product, wether they are worth paying extra for is up to the individual.

But for many free is very good and works well, for years i used AVG free antivirus.

Re: The only AntiMalware/Antivirus you will ever need

I've never really bothered with the secure erasing on Ccleaner, i just use Eraser to delete certain files if i remember rather than secure erase everything.

The advantage is its quicker to do i guess Ccleaner does take a while.

But after my computer surfs quicker after a good Cclean i notice.

Re: The only AntiMalware/Antivirus you will ever need

When i have 5gig in the recycle bin and as i run Ccleaner before turning the computer off i don't really want to wait a while, so individual secure file deletion is my preferred method and i'm not sure if Ccleaner does that.

Eraser has advantages over that like right click context menu erasing, it is really a nice pc of software.

Re: The only AntiMalware/Antivirus you will ever need

Ccleaner is indeed great software as are some of the other tools Piriform make.

I choose Esets Nod32 for my AV as it is low on resources and runs well.

I'm intrigued

I also run avira free AV and agree that it is a top notch application.

However, using the default option, mine usually updates at least every day sometimes twice a day.

Re: The only AntiMalware/Antivirus you will ever need

if free AVs were so good, they would charge for them...oh wait. they do

its not free is it?

businesses survive on money.
i guess you all must work for free or wouldnt mind if your employer said you had to as people werent prepared to pay you for your services.
would you do the same job with the same effort for nowt?

neither does a free AV
