Dell McAfee Internet Security Renewal

Hi all, I have McAfee Internet Security Centre installed on my Dell XPS and McAfee keep on bombarding me with e-mails to renew in advance at discount prices of £39 for 1 year.

I know I can get much better prices than this for a licence.

What I need to know is as follows;

The McAfee on the Dell is written exclusively (optimised) for the Dell (or so I've been told) so if I buy another licence from say Amazon will I be able to renew the licence with it.

Thanks in advance

Do yourself a favour and dump McAfee.

Your computer will thank you by running and booting faster.

There's plenty of free alternatives for AV, you might try Avira, it works for me.

If you use vista or Win7 I hear the bundled firewall is adequate.

Download the free Malware Bytes and do a manual scan once a week for peace of mind.

Combined with some common sense when browsing that's about all you need.

Re: Dell McAfee Internet Security Renewal

I agree with Mick, there are much better suites around than the McAffe offering. Grab the removal tool listed here http://www.technibble.com/repair-too...-removal-tool/
Then you are free to choose what you put on. If your behind a router then the windows firewall (especially Vista/7`s) coupled with a decent AV such as Avira/Avast or even Microsoft Security Essentials should.
You should notice a speed difference when you remove McAfee, it really is one off the worst suites on the market, allthough detection wise it`s not bad with Artemis.

I think the "optimised for Dell" is a complete load of tosh honestly. It will still use the same resources, I/O, etc.

Good luck.

p.s. If you are going to go paid then Norton is now a much better product as is the latest Kaspersky.
