Mozilla confirms critical Firefox bug

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread but as it deals with a critical vulnerability in the newest version of Firefox thought I would post it here.
Quote:
"The vulnerability was determined to be critical and could result in remote code execution by an attacker," Mozilla acknowledged in a post to its security blog late Thursday. "The vulnerability has been patched by developers and we are currently undergoing quality assurance testing for the fix."
As Mozilla will not be sending a patch before the release of 3.6.2 on 30th March anyone concerned can upgrade Firefox to the beta of version 3.6.2, which includes the fix, by downloading the preview.

Re: Mozilla confirms critical Firefox bug

I am assuming either the threat was bigger than the usual vulnerabilities Firefox has previously had, or the German Government 's reaction has worried Mozilla but having a proper fix is reassuring. I hate beta versions of anything. It will be interesting to see what the update still scheduled for the 30th March contains.

Re: Mozilla confirms critical Firefox bug

Well I just clicked on the check for updates button under the help on the menu bar and it said 3.6.2 available, no mention it was in beta. I've downloaded and installed.

Not in beta now, Mozilla have revised their position since my original opening post and have to-day released a finished up-date but are still scheduled to give us another one on the 30th.
